lucas maassen + sons: furniture factory: maassen employed his sons julian and maris, both age 7, and thijme, age 9, to paint the pine wood furniture built in the factory. as noted in a contract the boys signed with their father, each son receives a stipend of 1 euro for every piece of hand-built furniture they paint and may only work three hours per week, as allowed by dutch child labor laws.
